Second World Renewable Energy Assembly (WREA) 2007
pondělí 19. listopadu 2007 11:30 - středa 21. listopadu 2007 16:00 (Evropská unie, 200,- EUR)
The Second World Assembly wants to give clear impetus to prioritising renewable energies in the national and international energy debate. The conference will make clear that the shift towards renewables will not come as a burden for the national economies but as a unique chance. If the adequate policy instruments are applied in a consistent and competent way, this shift will be accomplished much quicker than most might expect.

Chairmen's message
We cordially invite
you to the Second World Renewable Energy Assembly (WREA). The first
World Assembly took place in November 2005 in Bonn. Its precursors were
the World Forum for Renewable Energy (hosted in Berlin in 2002 and in
Bonn in 2004) as well as the International Parliamentary Forum that
took place in parallel to the International Governmental Conference
renewables 2004.
The Second World Assembly will combine these two formats. The
conference presents a unique opportunity for advocates of renewable
energy to exchange ideas with parliamentarians belonging to the newly
established World Renewable Energy Parliamentary Network and to learn
about and develop collective strategies how to best promote renewable
energies worldwide.
The
Second World Renewable Energy Assembly presents solutions for an
accelerated global introduction of renewable energies and defines the
necessary policy instruments. Central focus of the conference is the
global target of a 100% supply of energy that comes from renewable
energy sources. The conference names the obstacles that have yet to be
overcome and at the same time shows how the target of "100% Renewable
Energy globally" can be attained and how the public can be motivated
towards achieving this goal ("mission possible").
Session
I looks at the necessary paradigmatic changes and provides status
reports from different regions of the world. Session II displays a
range of different reasons for the urgent and global shift to renewable
energies. The conference will show that climate change is not the only
problem that necessitates the shift to renewable energies: Culminating
shortages in fresh water supply in many regions of the world, damages
to people’s health, induced by the deployment of conventional energy
sources, and the growing threat of international political tensions
call for a fundamental change of the global energy system. Furthermore,
this session will demonstrate that the shift towards renewable energies
has clear advantages - also economically - over current approaches of CO2 capture and storage and the global emission trading system.
Session
III addresses convincing integrated scenarios as well as projects that
are already under way, both aiming at a 100% supply with renewable
energies.
Session IV presents the necessary "next steps" that will ultimately lead to a global breakthrough of renewable energies.
The
Second World Assembly wants to give clear impetus to prioritising
renewable energies in the national and international energy debate. The
conference will make clear that the shift towards renewables will not
come as a burden for the national economies but as a unique chance. If
the adequate policy instruments are applied in a consistent and
competent way, this shift will be accomplished much quicker than most
might expect.
